Modern Herb Co is the primary retail brand under parent company The Hemp Collect, a Portland-based cannabis brand house. It offers a high quality assortment of genuine live resin goods to consumers in open market states.
I have the privilege of leading the visual rebrand across all packaging and sales material to help transform the Modern Herb Co visual aesthetic into a leader in quality goods.
Modern Herb Co educates consumers on product inputs, how they’re derived, and what effects and experiences you can expect. We wanted to bring cannabis users a transparent and educational experience.
To do this we settled on a minimal visual approach that put the science front and center. Our in-house product development team put countless hours of work and research into developing top of the line products with targeted effects and we’re proud of it.
Our packaging visual hierarchy emphasizes active cannabinoids. Also on each label the cultivar, farm, major and minor cannabinoids, and the effect you can expect to feel after consumption are present.
Modern Herb Co serves consumers a wide range of goods and requires a lot of different types of packaging. The key is keeping the information hierarchy consistent across any packaging type and maintaining our ability to educate with transparency.
The majority of sales are through brick and mortar retail locations like dispensaries and smoke and vape shops. It’s vital to equip our remote sales team and the shops they service with helpful content to educate both staff and consumers in a retail setting.
